11.1.3.15 Refunds of income managed funds

Summary

Any refund in relation to a sales transaction completed using a stored value card must be refunded to the stored value card. No amount is to be refunded to the cardholder as cash.

When item/s which were purchased with income managed funds other than via the stored value card are returned, the credit may be retained by the merchant to be used for the relevant individual's future purchases of non-excluded goods and services. The funds must not be refunded to the individual as cash nor be used to purchase excluded items. If the merchant is unable retain the individual's funds as a credit, or should the individual no longer use the merchant's services, all residual funds are to be returned to the delegate. In this case, the delegate initiates the recovery of the funds and all funds will be returned to the individual's income managed account.
