6.3.6.70 Waiver of debts in determined classes

Summary

Centrelink may waive debts included in a class of debts determined by legislative instrument.

A determination made in this way may state:

  • conditions to be met before the debts, or parts of debts, may be waived, and
  • limits on the amounts of the debts to be waived.

A decision made in this way comes into operation:

  • if no day is stated in the decision - on the day the decision is made, or
  • if a day is stated in the decision - on the stated day (regardless of when the decision was actually made).
