1.1.F.95 Fares allowance (YA, Austudy)

Definition

FAA is paid to eligible tertiary students to cover travel costs associated with their study if they are an external student or need to live away from home for study purposes.

FAA is paid to certain categories of tertiary students to cover the cost of fares for travelling between their permanent home and educational institution, providing the permanent home and institution are within Australia and its external territories. If studying for the full year, the equivalent of 2 return trips home may be paid. The cost of the cheapest practical mode of travel is covered.

FAA is paid as a lump sum payment with YA or Austudy.
