Payment specific provisions
Special claims requirements for a number of individual payments are set out in the following table.

A claim should be lodged as soon as a person reaches age pension age. Health care card | A HCC is automatically issued at grant of the relevant payment and is automatically renewed at the prescribed intervals for that payment while payment continues. YA recipients who are undertaking full-time study (1.1.F.230) don't automatically qualify for a HCC and must lodge a claim. Low-income earners may also qualify for a HCC and must lodge a claim for a low income health care card (LIC). A carer of a child with a disability may also qualify for a HCC only and must lodge a claim. Some former payment recipients may be eligible for a HCC after their payment stops. Example: Former JSP recipients. |
Pensioner concession card | A PCC is automatically issued at grant of the relevant payment and is automatically renewed at the prescribed intervals for that payment while payment continues. Some payment recipients may be eligible for a PCC after their payment stops. |
Separate claim form is not required
Under current administrative arrangements a separate claim form is not required for a number of supplementary payments. These payments are set out in the table below.

Education entry payment | For claimants not eligible for PES written notification of the commencement of, or enrolment in studies is regarded as a claim for EdEP (3.8.6.10). For claimants eligible for PES, verification of receipt of PES is taken to be a claim for EdEP. EdEP will then be paid each calendar year (or 12 months for some payments), once continued receipt of PES is verified (3.8.6.20). |
Telephone allowance | A separate claim form is not required. |
Remote area allowance | A separate claim form is not required. |
Note: EEP was abolished 1 July 2008. From that date claims can only be made in respect of employment events occurring before 1 July 2008.
