1.1.D.50 Departure prohibition order

Definition

The Registrar has the power to make a DPO which prevents a person who has persistently failed to pay their child support (1.1.C.60) liability or carer liability (1.1.C.30) from leaving Australia unless they discharge the relevant liability or make satisfactory arrangements to do so.

A DPO does not prohibit travel to Australia's external territories (for example, Christmas Island and Norfolk Island).
