2.4 Formula assessment

Introduction

This chapter describes the administrative formulas the Registrar uses to calculate a child support assessment.

It explains how the Registrar uses income and care to calculate a child support assessment and how the parents' combined incomes are used to calculate the costs of children.

It also includes information about when the minimum annual rate of child support, or the fixed annual rate assessment, will apply.

Parents can use the online Child Support Estimator to estimate the amount of child support payable under a formula assessment.

WA ex-nuptial cases

The information in this chapter applies to WA-ex nuptial children. See 1.2.3 for details of the date from which various provisions had effect.
