1.1.P.50 Parenting payment (partnered) (PPP)
History
For historical reasons, this payment is sometimes referred to as benefit PPP.
Definition
PPP is the main income support payment for parents and other principal carers (1.1.P.412) who are members of a couple (1.1.M.120) and who have sole or primary responsibility for the care of a young child under the age of 6.
PPP is only payable to one member of a couple. An alternative income support payment such as JSP may be payable to the other member of the couple, depending upon their individual circumstances.
Further information
PPP is a social security payment. It is paid at the same rate and has the same income and assets test as JSP. Recipients of PPP are also eligible for a HCC.
