1.1.P.230 Permanently or for an extended period (CP, CA)

Definition: CP

For the purposes of CP, permanently or for an extended period means for a period of 6 months or more, unless the care receiver (1.1.C.20) has been certified by a medical professional as being in the final stage of a terminal illness (1.1.T.86).

Exceptions: For CP (adult) a terminal condition is where a person aged 16 years or over is in the final phase of a terminal illness and is not expected to live more than 3 months.

For CP (child), a terminal condition is where a medical practitioner has certified the child has a terminal condition and the average life expectancy for a child with the same or a similar condition is not substantially longer than 24 months.

Note: If CP (child) terminal qualifications are met CA (child) will be granted automatically.

Definition: CA

For the purposes of CA, permanently or for an extended period means 12 months or more unless the care receiver (1.1.C.21) has been certified by a medical professional as being in the final stage of a terminal illness (1.1.T.86).

Exception: For CA (adult) a terminal condition is where a person aged 16 years or over is in the final phase of terminal illness and is not expected to live more than 3 months.
