Definition

Some organisations provide accommodation for certain disadvantaged groups such as the elderly or physically or mentally disabled, on a shared equity basis.

Shared equity housing occurs when a person purchases a right to reside in supported accommodation by purchasing shares in a company.

Shared equity housing as a retirement village

Shared equity housing is included under the special residence provisions and are assessed in the same way as retirement villages.
